Installation guide

Add an AI chatbot to your website

You can prepare the assistant without code, test it privately, and then place it on a website with an embed snippet. Here is the complete path from idea to live chat.

What you need before installation

Decide what the assistant should handle before thinking about code. A focused bot might answer product questions, explain services, guide people to the right page, or collect a request for the team. Write down the five questions that matter most.

Next, gather the pages and documents that contain those answers. Chaat can read a public website URL and turn the extracted pages into a removable knowledge source. You can also upload documents or paste text.

The final installation is deliberately small: use the Share tab to copy the website embed code or open the public chat link. The public experience shows the bot’s name, photo and chosen colours while keeping internal source labels inside private testing.

From blank bot to website chat

  1. 1

    Create the assistant

Use the guided Chaat assistant or manual setup to define the name, job, greeting and suggested questions.

  2. 2

    Add knowledge

Import the public website, upload current files or paste concise reference text.

  3. 3

    Choose the appearance

Set the chat colour, name colour and optional bot image. Check the preview at mobile size.

  4. 4

    Test before sharing

Ask factual, conversational and out-of-scope questions. Correct the knowledge or instructions when an answer is weak.

  5. 5

    Copy the embed

Open Share, copy the provided snippet and add it to the website. Use the shareable link when a full-page chat is more suitable.

Installation problems to prevent

  • Embedding the bot before its name, greeting and knowledge have been tested.
  • Adding the installation snippet twice through both a tag manager and the site template.
  • Placing the widget over an important mobile control in the bottom corner.
  • Sending visitors to a contact form that no one is monitoring.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a developer to install the chatbot?+

Many website builders let you paste a script into a site-wide custom-code area. If your platform restricts custom scripts, the shareable chat link works without an embed.

Can I test the bot before putting it on the website?+

Yes. The Test area uses the same chat experience and can optionally show which knowledge sources supported an answer.

Can I change the bot after embedding it?+

Yes. Update its setup, knowledge or appearance in the dashboard. The embedded experience uses the latest saved configuration.
